The historic St. George Theatre and Where to Turn will once again present the annual “Beatles Blast”, this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road.   Hosted by Ken Dashow of Q104.3FM, the event will feature local Beatles tribute band The Blue Meanies performing Abbey Road its entirety, plus a set featuring several guest vocalists who will join the band on some other non-Abbey Road Beatles classic tunes.

Released on September 26, 1969, Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by The Beatles and features the iconic album cover of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr crossing the street outside Abbey Road Studios in London.  The album contains 17 songs including classics like “Come Together”, “Something”, “Here Comes the Sun”, and most notably the 16-minute medley on Side Two which strings together 8 short songs culminating with “The End”. The album was rated #14 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list and has been certified over 12-times platinum, making Abbey Road one of the best-selling albums of all time.

Any local musician who would like to perform at Beatles Blast with The Blue Meanies can contact Dennis McKeon at They will be sent a song list and asked to return a video audition of their performance of a Beatles tune off the list along with the key signature of the song by March 8.
