Beatles Blast: The White Album 50th Anniversary

The historic St. George Theatre and Where to Turn will once again present the annual “Beatles Blast”, this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ 1968 self-titled album most commonly known as The White Album. The event will feature local Beatles tribute band The Blue Meanies performing The White Album its entirety accompanied by several guest vocalists who will join the band on album tracks throughout the night, culminating in a all-star encore of Beatles favorites. The evening’s festivities will also include a special presentation by Tom Frangione of Sirius XM’s Beatles Channel, photo opportunities, and other special surprises.

Released on November 22, 1968, The Beatles aka The White Album is the ninth studio album by The Beatles. This double album contains 30 songs including classics “Helter Skelter”, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, “Blackbird”, “Back in the U.S.S.R.”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Birthday”, “Rocky Raccoon”, and many more. The album spent nine weeks at #1 on the Billboard charts and went 19-times platinum, making The White Album the Beatles’ most-times-certified album by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Any local musician who would like to perform at Beatles Blast with The Blue Meanies can contact Dennis McKeon at dennis.mckeon@where-to-turn.org. They will be sent a song list and asked to return a video audition of their performance of a Beatles tune off the list along with the key signature of the song by March 2.
